GENERAL RULES
1. HAVE FUN!!! There will be no professional scouts watching you and everyone needs to go to work the next morning. Fun first. Fun last. No room for anything else. Captains, if someone is out of control, take them out of the game immediately.
2. 7 vs. 7 contest. One goal keeper, six field players. Of the six field players, three MUST be female. There is no maximum number of females allowed on the field during a game. But the maximum number of male field players is three. If you have a female goalie, you must still have three female field players.
3. NO SLIDE TACKLING!!! A slide tackle will be an automatic booking and an indirect kick for the opposing team. Goal keepers are allowed to slide in order to stop an attack, but must do so with cleats down.
4. No offside. Cherry-pick all you want.
5. No cursing! Cursing may result in a booking.
6. Goal keepers CAN NOT punt or drop-kick the ball. Doing so will result in an indirect kick for the opposing team. The ball must be thrown or placed on the ground to kick.
7. All games will consist of two 45-minute halves. Water breaks during each half are allowed and recommended. Halves may be shortened at the agreement of both captains.
8. Minimum players to start a match is five. One goal keeper, four field players (one of which must be a female).
9. All players are limited to three goals per contest. If you get the hat-trick, play defense, sit out, or start making assists.
10. Substitutions are "on the fly". Make them as often as you need, but do so at the sideline near midfield, NOT on the endline or near the corners.
11. Free kicks must be given a distance of at least five yards.
12. Pick up after yourself. Clean the fields before you leave or we may not be welcomed back.
13. Goals scored by deflection will be credited to the last offensive player to touch the ball. Furthermore, if a player has a hat-trick (3 goal max), they can not score from a deflection.
14. Shin guards must be worn to play in any NOCS games.
15. All players must have a unique player number on their team jersey or shirt.
16. Any rule not specifically covered above will be taken from FIFA's Laws of the Game, latest edition.
CARDS
See Cards Page for complete rules regarding yellow and red bookings and their penalties. Basically, any suspension issued as a result of a red card, or accumulating yellow cards as per our card policy, will be served on a per league match basis, which includes playoffs and/or tournament play. These suspensions will also carry over between seasons.
STANDINGS/PLAYOFFS
1. Standings always determine the winner for each division.
2. Cup and All-Star games are a separate title, but are primarily for fun.
3. Post-season games are not calculated into the regular season standings or records.
4. If the standings show a tie at the end of the season, winner will be determined by the head-to-head rule. What this means is if team A and team B are tied, whoever won in the regular season play against each other wins the division title. If those teams tied, then winner will be determined by goal differential. If goal differential is tied, the winner will be determined by most shutouts, then least amount of goals given up, and then coin toss. But it should rarely, if ever, come to that.
CAPTAIN'S RESPONSIBILITIES
1. All game scores, cautions and/or ejections, and injuries MUST be reported to the Chat Room under Game Reports. Failure to do so may result in sanctions for the captain, fines, and/or ejection of the team from the league. Reporting your scorers, assists and saves is encouraged, but in order to get them posted to your team page, you must submit a Team Stat Sheet.
2. PAY THE REF!!! He or she will be expecting $50 from the HOME TEAM captain. It is your responsibility to make sure the referee is paid. No checks please. Cash only. which brings us to ...
3. Assign a co-captain!!! Then get that person in the Chat Room mentioned above and make sure they know the Web site address. If you are on vacation, injured, or your computer breaks down, someone will need to know what's going on and what to do for the games, including reporting scores, etc.
4. Bring your player passes to every game. If someone doesn't have a player pass, they won't be allowed to play.
5. Injuries. They must be reported to the referee before the end of the match and written on the game card by the referee. Also report them to the chat room along with your game report.
